Over 95% of our massage chair customers are purchasing a massage chair to be used in their home. A small percentage of our customers purchase a massage chair for their business. Of course, massage chairs can go pretty much anywhere with the necessary space. But, what is not generally known about a business chair purchase is that some of the brand name chairs have limited to no warranty coverage if something goes wrong with your chair in a commercial setting.
Your business may just be a one room office that only you use. It could be a small business that has 3-4 people using the chair. It could be a nail or hair salon or a gym, that gets hundreds of clients a week or month with access to the chair. It could be a call center or factory with 2o employees up to even hundreds of employees.
As you can imagine, the wear and tear on a chair can vary substantially based on the use of that massage chair in a commercial setting. More wear and tear equates to more chair failures and, thus, more repairs and costs. For that reason, some companies will limit their chair warranty for specific settings of for any commercial use, period.
This article will review the commercial warranties from each of the brand-name chair companies we represent. Before I go into this summary, I would just like to mention that there are plenty of off-brand chairs on the market and it can be difficult to find any definitive warranty information for them. Make sure you know the full details of a company’s warranty for it’s model(s). Simply stating that their warranty is a “2 year warranty”, on their website, tells you little to nothing of what is truly covered…parts? labor? in-home repairs? commercial coverage? It can be a puzzle figuring out what their coverage even is, let alone if they have any commercial coverage.
In each case below, I will mention the residential (standard) coverage AND the commercial coverage for comparison’s sake. They are listed in alphabetic order:
BodyFriend
The standard residential warranty is 1 year in-home labor and 3 years parts.
The commercial warranty is 3 years parts with zero in-home labor coverage.
Furniture For Life
Their products include OHCO, Koyo, Postive Posture, Katana, and Panasonic brands. The standard residential warranty is 3 years parts & in-home labor for OHCO, Positive Posture, and Panasonic brands. The Koyo and Katana brands have 1 year in-home labor & 3 years parts coverage.
There is not a commercial warranty available, that comes with their chairs, but you can purchase a 2-year parts & on-site labor warranty for commercial use. The prices range from $240 up to $700, depending on the model and brand.
Fujiiryoki
Fujiiryoki also includes Synca and D.Core brands. Their warranties range from 1 year parts & in-home labor up to 5 years parts & labor coverage (depending on the model).
For smaller offices and light traffic businesses, the D.Core, Calm Plus, Jin 2 and Circ+ models would come with their standard factory warranty.
For more rigorous usage, i.e. gyms and medical facilities, Fujiiryoki has Kuroda and Kurodo-E models that are built solely for commercial usage. These models come with 3 years parts & 0n-site labor coverage included in the chair prices.
As you can see, this company strives to have coverage for any commercial setting.
Human Touch
Human Touch offers the same warranty for standard residential and commercial settings. Their warranty is 1 year in-home labor and 3 years parts coverage.
Infinity
The Infinity brand also includes Sharper Image and Kyota brands.
The standard residential warranty is 1 year in-home labor & 3 years parts coverage.
Their commercial warranty is 1 year on-site labor & 2 years parts coverage.
If you are buying one of their chairs for revenue generating purposes, the coverage is 6 months parts only.
Luraco
The standard residential warranty is 3 years in-home labor & 5 years parts coverage.
Their commercial warranty is 1 year parts with 6 months on-site labor coverage.
Ogawa
Ogawa also includes JPMedics models.
Their standard residential warranty is 3 years parts & in-home labor coverage for the Ogawa Master Drive models, and 1 year in-home labor & 2 years parts coverage for the remaining lower priced Ogawa models. The JPMedics chairs also come with a 3 years parts & in-home labor warranty.
Ogawa/JPMedics offers a commercial warranty for $200 per year for up to 3 years parts & on-site labor coverage.
Osaki Titan
The standard residential warranty is 1 year in-home labor & 3 years parts coverage.
For very high usage settings, the standard commercial warranty is 2 free technician visits and 3 years of parts coverage. For smaller offices and light business traffic, the standard residential warranty coverage applies.
Tru
Their standard residential warranty is 1 year in-home labor & 3 years parts coverage.
For commercial use, the warranty is 6 months parts & on-site labor coverage.
USJaclean (Daiwa)
Their standard residential warranty is 1 year in-home labor & 3 years parts coverage.
USJaclean (Daiwa) has no commercial warranty coverage.
I should add that most of these companies offer extended warranty options, but that coverage is for standard residential use only. None of the companies offer an extended warranty option, other than what is listed above.
I should also add that the line between home and business can be a little blurred. For example, if you work from home, any massage chair you purchase will be covered by the standard residential warranty. If you do the same work from a small office and you are the only one who is using the chair, then I would suggest that your chair will still be covered by the standard residential warranty. As a matter of fact, some smaller offices have less people and, thus, less traffic than do some homes! The standard residential warranty would be generally accepted in those situations. I say “generally” because some companies will search your shipping address and, if it comes up as a commercial business, clinic, office, etc., the company may not honor the residential warranty. We can certainly help you through that sticking point before you buy.
Lastly, I want to say that we will offer 1-2 years of labor coverage for massage chairs in commercial settings, depending on the usage of the chair you are buying. You probably know that we offer a Lifetime Labor Warranty on all of our residential sales. Although we can’t offer that on the commercial chair purchases, we can offer up to 1-2 years of labor coverage, at our expense.
