As a runner, I’m always sore. This stick does a good job of smoothing out the achy and stiff areas and seems to help me recover quicker. The size is great (I haul it in my backpack to work). My only criticism (as others have pointed out) is the handle smell. I’ve tried cleaning it, airing it out, nothing works. The smell gets on your hands when you use it so I always have to wash after. Makes my wife nauseous.

I’ve been having terrible calf strain from running and other various activities. I got the stick for Christmas and it has been amazing! The best time to use it is directly after exercising to get the lactic acid moving to help prevent sore muscles. I also take it into the shower with me and use it after I’ve been in about 10-15 minutes (or warm up my muscles with a heating pad prior to rolling). I wouldn’t use this on “cold” muscles. All-in-all it is a great product. I also have a foam roller I got from the sports store which works great on tight IT Bands and sore hamstrings.

I have seen booths where they were hawking these and stayed away. After pulling my calf muscle during a run my niece had me try her Marathon stick. It worked fantastic. I picked up the travel stick and use it after every bike ride. I brought it in to work and a couple co-workers liked it so much they also bought it.(she uses it on her daughter for growing pains) Seems strange to pay $30 for a plastic stick but hey, it works!
